Kerry Allan began her early dance training with the Woodstock School of Ballet and continued through college at the University of Georgia, where she performed with the university’s pre-professional modern and aerial company, CORE. After graduating, Kerry choreographed, danced, and taught extensively in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Atlanta, GA. Her work has premiered with performing companies like Sole Full of Rhythm, Meaning in Motion, Youth Dance Theater, and the professional modern dance company People Dancing, where she served as a full company member and choreographer. In April 2010 she choreographed, organized, and directed full-evening concerts of her work in modern and contemporary dance, Merge. She has received top awards for choreography in regional and national dance competitions and participated in international dance events and workshops, including the Zawirowania Dance Festival in Warsaw, Poland. Kerry has a wide range of experience teaching, serving as an adjunct faculty member of the Dance Department at Eastern Michigan University, and an instructor for Randazzo Dance, Movement Artists Guild, Arts in Motion, Cecchetti Council of America International Summer School, Dance Xplosion, Dance Steps Studio, Encore Talent, Woodstock School of Ballet, and Dance Arts of Chelsea. In addition to studio work, she has been part of several public school workshops (from K- 12) to bring movement arts to a wider community of students. In 2011 she served as the “Dance Project” head instructor for Hillgrove High School’s competitive colorguard and marching band in Atlanta. With her recent move to Springfield, she is enthusiastic about contributing to the dance and arts community in her new hometown, where she is currently serving as an instructor for Springfield Ballet and Springfield Little Theater.
