Though now a first grade teacher, Alison Vernon’s first love has always been dance. At the age of 3 she began dance lessons at That’s Entertainment in Lee’s Summit, MO. She spent the majority of her school years dancing under the direction of Jennifer McCluhan at Dancing Plus in Lee’s Summit, MO. With Dancing Plus, she traveled and performed in many cities and venues, including Disney World, Disney Land and the Navy Pier. Her love of teaching dance throughout high school is what motivated her to attend Missouri State University and earn her degree in Elementary Education. During college, she was a member of the Inertia Dance Company and was honored to perform in several fall and spring dance concerts, as well as at the American College Dance Festival. She was also able to complete a dance course through the Study Away Program in London, England. Outside of the dance program, Alison was the Dance Captain for the Springfield Cardinal’s Team Louie for two summers. Since graduating from MSU in 2011, she has also received her Masters in Educational Leadership in December 2012. She is thankful for the continuing dance opportunities provided through the Springfield Dance Alliance.
