-Harvest, Fall Concert Series
-Bloom, Spring Concert Series
-Springfield Dance Artists
Our annual formal Harvest and Bloom concert performances strive to feature a wide variety of quality dance works, brought to you by a diverse group of choreographers. Our choreographers range from faculty at Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance, artistic directors from our member organization dance studios, to professional and emerging local artists. Expect to see some modern, contemporary ballet, jazz, and maybe even some bellydance or tap. Harvest and Bloom concerts feature a wide range of performers, including local professional artists, students, and adults rekindling or finding a passion for dance.
Springfield Dance Artists is a summer concert series designed for showcasing selected contemporary works and adult advanced/professional dancers, offering an elevated program and more intensive rehearsal/class training for dancers looking for professional contemporary dance experience. Choreography submissions are selected based on artistic merit and casting is more rigorous and selective than our fall and spring productions.
-Start Dancing Again Classes
Start Dancing Again is a class series of 90 minute ballet, modern, and jazz classes taught by Springfield Dance Alliance members! These classes are appropriate for a dancer with just a few years of experience, but are geared towards professionals and those who have studied dance in depth in high school or college. Ballet classes include a complete barre warm-up followed by center work, traveling movements and some choreography/variations. Modern classes will consist of a warm-up, floor work, and athletic, expressive dancing rooted in technique. Jazz/Musical Theater classes will focus on stylized movements throughout exercises and musical theater repertoire.
Our workshop series is an ongoing offering of a variety of dance styles in a more in-depth single setting. Past workshops have included Bellydance, Bhangra dance, Irish dance, Tango, Contemporary, Partnering, Modern, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap, and Hip Hop. Workshops are open to all levels and ages, but are mainly geared for the adult dancer.
-Community Dance Slam
Inspired by poetry slams, our Community Dance Slam highlights the Springfield area dance community by providing any local dance artist or organization the opportunity to present works in an inclusive, informal community setting. Artists can choose to have their work professionally adjudicated. A few artists from each Dance Slam who choose to participate in the adjudication process will be selected to present their work in one of the Alliance’s formal concerts and receive a one year membership with Springfield Dance Alliance free.
